Booster Covid-19 vaccines

November 1, 2021

UPDATED 3/02/2022

ATAGI recommends the booster vaccination to provide maximum protection against COVID-19. The booster is a safeguard against severe disease, particularly for older Australians and those in vulnerable groups.

Australia’s medicines regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration, has approved the use of Pfizer vaccine for booster doses even if you had the Astra Zeneca vaccine initially.

All Australians over 16 years will be eligible for the booster vaccine three months or more after the date they had their second COVID 19 vaccination.

We have a steady supply of Pfizer vaccines available and will send everyone a reminder advising when they are eligible to receive their booster (based on the date you received your 2nd dose). You can call the Practice on 4284 4622 to book your booster. You can also book online by selecting the Covid-19 Vaccine Pfizer, and then selecting Covid-19 Vaccine Third Dose Pfizer when prompted.

Although not preferred, AstraZeneca can also be used as a booster dose if a significant adverse reaction has occurred after a previous mRNA vaccine dose which contraindicates further doses of mRNA vaccine (e.g., anaphylaxis, myocarditis).

Please note, we are also providing third doses of Covid-19 vaccines to severely immunocompromised people aged 12 years + as per the ATAGI guidelines.
